Driving East – Black Eyes And Broken Hearts

Driving East isn’t exactly an original band yet listening to their debut EP “Black Eyes And Broken Hearts” I can see why The Militia Group signed these guys. The 10 songs on here are powerful poppunk anthems that are packed with galloping drums, loud guitars, catchy choruses and more hooks than a bait shop.

Having played shows already with Midtown, Allister, Homegrown) and sounding not too different from New Found Glory, this band would’ve fit right in on the Drive-Thru roster from a couple of years ago. On “Black Eyes And Broken Hearts” Driving East sound enthousiastic, energetic and in general are a lot more fun to listen to than the Panic! At The Disco’s and My Chemical Romance’s of the world. Guess that even after all these years I’m still a sucker for some solid melodic poppunk!
Score: 7.5 out of 10
