Eddie Vedder - Into The Wild OST

Around the time Pearl Jam made it to rock stardom with the release of their debut album "Ten", college graduate Christopher McCandless left everything he knew and owned behind and travelled around the States for two years before stranding in the final frontier that is Alaska where he met his tragic fate. Not only has this story now been transformed in what could very well be the best movie we'll see in 2008 thanks to director Sean Penn and leading actor Emile Hirsch but Eddie Vedder wrote an equally beautiful soundtrack to accompany the movie.

Whether it's the banjo-enhanced "No Ceiling" or the cover of Indio's "Hard Sun" that he sings along with Sleater Kinney's Corin Tucker, the folky result is always there and it makes the movie even better. The absolute highlights of this album however are the completely acoustic "Long Nights" and "Society" which send shivers down my spine every single time.
Score: 9 out of 10
