Indianapolis’ Gwen Stacy are about to release their Ferret debut. It’s called “The Life I Know” and it boasts 12 metalcore songs that will sound familiar if you have ever heard another one of the recent metalcore acts out there. Loud music with a discordant breakdown here and there and clean vocals in the choruses. Been there, done that. And yet I can see why Ferret wanted to sign these guys becayse they have a lot of potential that already shines through on a couple of occasions. Like the Underoathesque “Gone Fishing, See You In A Year” or in the moody and long drawn out “Sleeping In The Train Yard”. And because of that they’re going from a mere ‘meh!” to a ‘take note, there may be more here’.
Score: 6.5 out of 10
