Houston Swing Engine isn’t from Houston and they don’t play swing music. The swinging could also refer to their lifestyle but I’m not sure about that. Rather they call Switzerland home and play a deafening mix of stoner rock and hardcore. And they’re doing a pretty good job of that on “Entre Hommes”!
Vocalist Danek has an extremely nasty scream and while the clean parts might not be equally convincing, the guy does get away with them. The riffs are amazing and when you combine them with an effective rhythm section and 14 great songs, you’ve got an album any band should be proud of. If you wanna hear what Refused would sound like when crossed with a band like Queens Of The Stone Age, then make sure you check out “Entre Hommes”!
