Cracker – Live At The Rockpalast Crossroads Festival

Back in the nineties it seemed like Cracker was destined for ‘big things’. Nobody knows what those big things entail exactly. But with hit singles like “Low”, “Teen Angst” and “I Hate My Generation”, everyone was expecting these guys to be able to tell us about it in no time. Especially around the time their album “Kerosene Hat” came out. But after that something happened, causing Cracker to fade away from the limelight and the major label they were on.

They’ve been consistently cracking out (haha!) their mix of country and rock ever since, not once releasing an album that was less good than “Kerosene Hat” if you ask me. How can they be when you’ve got two songwriters in one band that are as good as David Lowery and Johnny Hickman?

To prove once more what they’re all about, there’s now “Live At The Rockpalast Crossroads Festival”, a double album and DVD that captures the band rocking the fuck out in a live setting for German TV with a big grin on their faces. It’s a solid mix of songs with a bit of an emphasis on the early years. But they threw in a couple of songs from their latest – and at that point not even recorded yet – album “Sunrise In The Land Of Milk And Honey” just the same. And you know what? Those new song blend in perfectly with the rest of the band’s back catalog. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
