Transmit Now gets to call Orlando, FL home and I have to say that on their debut “Downtown Merry-Go-Round” you do hear the results of all those years of growing up around a whole lot of Disney. These guys play powerpop/rock that’s being pushed as poppunk with some electronic flourishes to boot.
I should hate this… everything from the artwork to the lyrics simply screams ‘cheesy’ in big, pink neon letters. And then there’s the awkward ballad that is “The Last Thing” that sounds like a Matchbox 20 hand-me-down. Awful! Yet most of the other songs here are upbeat party songs that are actually okay to listen to. So yeah, they still have some work cut out for them but fans of acts such as All Time Low should have a good time with “Downtown Merry-Go-Round”.
