The Effort – Wartime Citizens

On their full-length debut “Wartime Citizens”, The Effort goes for the throat. From the military sounding drums that open “The Price Of Man(ipulation)” to the rants that come courtesy of vocalist Tony Auger, it’s obvious that these guys are pissed off about a lot of things.

Straight from Massachusetts, this straight edge outfit play some nasty hardcore that draws influences from the likes of 108, Verse, Have Heart and Champion and they do it pretty damn well. The vocals might be pushed a bit too much to the front of the mix which only show that they’re kind of monotonous, but in the end that’s something that can be prevented at any live show where these guys are guaranteed to set the place on fire.
