New Jersey’s Communipaw is singer/songwriter Brian Bond, Keith Carne (drums), Dave Esterman (bass) and Brian Kelly (lead guitar). Contrary to many other bands from the region, they do not play melodic hardcore. Instead Mr. Bond and his buds mix up indie rock and alt country flavored ditties and - especially on the first half of their self-titled album – end up with some great songs which are all warm and cuddly and mellow. The second half of the album is not as solid as opener “The Morning Hours” or “Take Over” which is a shame… but it’s still well done.
This is the kind of album I’d want to listen to late at night on the way back from a show by one of those other New Jersey bands who’ve been wreaking havoc on your hearing.
