The Riot Before – Fists Buried In Pockets
Hey, do you like adrenalin-charged punkrock that’s built upon a solid folk foundation? Then be sure to check out The Riot Before and feel like you’re rediscovering pre-new Wave Against Me.
This Richmond, VA outfit immediately sets the tone with the title track in which vocalist Brett Adams grows angrier by the second. You can tell Adams started The Riot Before as an acoustic project upon hearing songs such as “I Have My Books” or “Words Written Over Coffee” but overall “Fists Buried In Pockets” is a punkrock missile about to take off and make the place go boom!
These – who I picture to be bearded - dudes manage to maintain a high energy level throughout most of the album, only dragging their asses through the almost 6-minutes long “Election Day” but other than that I have nothing but good things to say about “Fists Buried In Pockets”. Which I kinda just did in the preceding paragraphs.
Score: 8 out of 10
