With a debut album under the belt produced by Kenny Gioia (Marcy Playground), a manager called Anthony Raneri (Bayside’s vocalist) and guest vocals by Anthony on “So, This Is Progress” and Taking Back Sunday’s Adam Lazzara on “Where The Heart Is”, things are going well for The Status. I could’ve made a lame joke here about the positive status of the band but I fought back the urge.
Musically The Status isn’t exactly unique but this Atlanta, GA outfit does know how to write songs that are easy on the ears (the title track, “The Wake Of What’s Been Done”). They’ve got a good sense of dynamics, incorporate solid vocal harmonies and the overall sound of the album is crispy. Chances are that if you like the guest vocalists’ bands, you’ll grow into The Status as well.
