Such Gold – Misadventures

Such Gold is one of those bands that happened to be in the right place at the right time, which is how come they suddenly found themselves at the forefront of the pop-punk resurgence. I’m not saying they don’t deserve it. Every single song on “Misadventures” – the band’s debut full-length – is a testament to that.

Fast-paced from the get-go, these guys race through just under a dozen songs in less than half an hour with “Two Year Plan” and “Committee Circus” setting things into motion. They’re pretty hardcore yet there is always plenty of melody going on in the riffage or the vocals. Ben Kotin actually has the perfect voice for this kinda music and can segue from shouting into clean vocals effortlessly.

If you’re into the melodic hardcore meets pop-punk movement that bands like Set Your Goals are propagating, then picking up a copy of “Misadventures” is pretty much mandatory.
Score: 8 out of 10
