The Scutches is a Long Island based pop-punk duo that like their songs just fine with three chords, slick melodies and - of course - lyrics about girls. Whether it’s about being glad she’s gone (“Glad You’re Gone”) or not wanting her to leave (“Don’t Go”), girls are definitely all over this album.
Sticking close to the sound that bands like the Queers, the Ramones and the Mr T Experience pioneered before them, the songs are catchy enough. I’m just not sure what they did with the guitars on here… it’s like listening to your walkman right before the battery ran out. Remember that? It takes away from the sheer charm of the songs and it cuts “Ten Songs, Ten Years” short of being a winner.
Score: 6 out of 10
