Loch Lomond – Little Me Will Start A Storm

- by Thomas

I’ve never heard of the Portland-based outfit Loch Lomond but according to online sources “Little Me Will Start A Storm” is already the sextet’s fourth album. With a very rich and diverse sound that floats between indie pop, folk and chamber pop, this album gently trickles along with lush arrangements right up to the slightly experimental failure that is “Alice Left With Stockings And Earrings”.

But up until then they’re doing a pretty good job of setting the right mood and luring you in with lullabies (“Elephants & Little Girls”), the extremely fragile “I Love Me” and the psychedelic “Earth Has Moved Again”. The album could use a bit more tension here and there but overall this is a pretty decent effort if you are in an extremely mellow mood.
Score: 6.5 out of 10
