It's not easy writing reviews. Sometimes you have to sit through things that fall in categories such as gothabilly! Yes, you read it well, a contraction of gothic and rockabilly. There's also southern gospel and americana brought into this blend.
If you find yourself asking "Why?", I have to disappoint you. I don't have the answer either.
Maybe this music works for you if you live in the southernmost states of the US of wish you did. I really don't know. But there must be people liking this stuff because it's Slim Cessna's fifth album. It just makes me glad I never had to listen any of to the four preceding this one.
