Norma Jean - Meridional

- by Jan

The christian metalcore combo are known for quite technical tunes that can be appreciated without having to think to much. Each album they release is an evolution, a next step on the ladder. Although it's not their best album, it's still a good one.

A lot of thought has been put into this release on every level. The music is well thought out, mostly maintaining a good balance between complex and compelling tunes. Song titles such as Deathbed Atheist and Everlasting Tapeworm. A story that binds the songs together. And also dark, but kind of funny artwork.

But what it all comes down to: Norma Jean is still a bunch of pissed off (and sometimes sad) dudes taking their issues out on their instruments and throats. I'm actually willing to look past the christian-band-thing, and that's saying something.
Score: 7.5 out of 10
