Raised Fist – Veil Of Ignorance

One of Sweden’s finest bands is back with a new album which I doubt all the Raised Fist fans out there will be equally happy with. Why? Because “Veil Of Ignorance” sees Raised Fist toning down the brutality. This means no more blast beats or sheer violence. Sure, Alexander Hagman still spits out his lyrics and the riffs are still awesome but overall it doesn’t hit as hard as the band’s previous output.

In my eyes that is not a bad thing because playing with dynamics makes for a more diverse album and with “City Of Cold” they have even written one of their best songs ever. The band sounds more melodic than ever without letting it get in the way of the aggression and with cuts like “Wounds” they prove they can still kick ass if they slow things down.

Not one of the year’s best albums but still an album that wouldn’t look half bad in the CD collection of any self-respecting hardcore fan.
Score: 8 out of 10
