San Diego’s Thieves & Liars have the honor of releasing the first ever album on the brand new Facedown imprint Dreamt Music. “When Dreams Become Reality” is a concept album about the story of Joseph with plenty of seventies rock serving as a backdrop. Kinda like Jesus Christ Superstar if you will.
The band starts the proceedings with the 7-minute long “The Dream” which goes into this Tool-like atmosphere before a boys’ choir starts singing. Kinda bombastic and the twists and turns the song takes feel awkward. Next up are a couple of Led Zepand AC/DC lite songs that couldn’t charm me too much either. These guys definitely have some good ideas floating around but unforunately, they lack the power needed to pound those ideas into my thick skull.
