Various Artists – True Blood vol. 3

- by Thomas

While some of the songs on this soundtrack make a whole lot of sense in this show about bloodsuckers – like Siouxsie & The Banshees’ “Spellbound” and the song from the opening credits (Jace Everett’s “Bad Things”) - it’s the less obvious duets that really get your pulse racing.

Like Neko Case and Nick Cave doing an update of The Zombies’ “She’s Not There” or Jakob Dylan and Gary Louris with “Gonna Be A Darkness”. Couple that to songs by classic blues artists such as Gil Scott Heron and Slim Harpo and you’re looking at a brooding soundtrack full of Americana and blues that perfectly reflects the atmosphere in Bon Temps, Louisiana.
Score: 8 out of 10
