Boys will be boys is an expression that seems to suit French outfit Toy Fight. Just when they decided to call it a day after their debut, City Slang offered them a deal for one more album. And so these guys headed for the studio with a knack for writing breezy pop songs and a suitcase full of toys.
Ukuleles, piano, glockenspiel, trumpets are coupled to happy go lucky melodies and an overall laidback atmosphere that is the perfect companion for a sunny summer day. Innocent and naïve are two more characteristics one could attribute to these guys. And that’s how come Belle & Sebastian is a name that will come to mind on a number of occasions. Like with that trumpet finale in “Your Own Fireworks”.
On to album number three? Let’s hope they don’t break up again before they get the chance.
