A chelsea grin is a nickname for slicing someone’s face open from the mouth to the ears so that they have an eternal grin. It is also the name of a song by Bring Me The Horizon. Which is probably where these guys got their inspiration. Just like those guys, Chelsea Gring plays what is called deathcore.
Take a bunch of fast riffs, one-note breakdowns and lots of guitar squeals and throw it all together in one messy bunch. That’s what I hear whenever I hear a deathcore band. Chelsea Gring comes with two vocalists in a desperate attempt to try and offer some kind of variety. One of them handles all the cookie monster type grunts whereas the other made me think of Deliverance the whole time… I bet you can squeal like a pig. Weeeeeeee!
This just plain sucks.
