You don’t hear the words ska and punk combined quite as often these days as back when I first got into punkrock. Leave it to Michigan’s We Are The Union though to bring back this tried and tested sound in 2010.
It’s not like they’re doing anything you haven’t heard before on “Great Leaps Forward”. But they are just as much fun to listen to as when I first cranked up Less Than Jake’s “Hello Rockview” back in the day. Loud guitars, fast drums and yes, horns! And I don’t mean the devil kind at a metal concert. Thrown in plenty of gang vocals and you’re looking at one energetic fun-filled album that deserves to be played in the car with the windows rolled down and the sun shining.
