Derek (Nicoletto) and the Darling (Sammi Garett) met through NY improv troupe United Citizens Brigade and decided to write some tunes together, which barely six months later brings us to the release of the “Rockface” EP.
Kickin things off is the ridiculously poppy “Hustler With A Rescue Plan” which comes at you with all synths blazing and has a catchy hook to boot. Next up is “You” which shows us why the Darling is part of the band as well. She has a good voice for this kind ofpoprock. Unfortunately the other three songs fall kinda short and make me wonder if maybe it wouldn’t have been a better plan to let the songs simmer a little bit longer.
