Album number two for these Finnish dudes is called “Neverland” and comes with an album cover with a mushroom on it. Which is something that would come in handy to enjoy their tunes to the fullest. Yes, it’s stoner rock that taps from the same vein as Kyuss… thick, fuzzed out guitars swirl all over the place with a solid rhythm section keeping things in check. Sounds good, right?
Well, most of it does. There are some interludes I could have done without, some of the songs are too long and the high-pitched shouted vocals take some getting used to. On the other hand, they do know how to rock and inject the songs with enough solos to keep things interesting. So while this is no masterpiece of any kind, Mangoo does a pretty good job nonetheless. Even though their band name is pretty terrible.
