Band Of Heathens is a relatively new band to come out of the Austin country scene. What started as a bunch of dudes being on the same bill over at Momo's, soon turned into a collaboration onstage which in turn evolved into a full-fledged band.
On their Ray Wylie Hubbard-produced debut, these Southern boys shine in writing country songs that don't sound like those polished up turds of patriotic love that are being passed up as country nowadays and that make me throw up in my mouth a little. With some folk-rock ("This I Know") and Delta blues ("Second Line") thrown in, Band of Heathens managed to put together a compelling album that is guaranteed to spread their name way beyond the Austin city limits. So grab a cold beer, sit your ass in that rockin' chair and enjoy the mellow sounds of The Band Of Heathens.
