Monochrome - Caché

Monochrome is a German band that has been around for 14 years already. At first they started out as a hardcore band called Dawnbreed and then went through a post-hardcore phase already under the moniker of Monochrome before settling on something that is best described as indiepop.

They manage to keep things interesting most of the time with the male/female vocals of Marc Calmbach and Kate Complikate but overall this is indiepop like you’ve heard it before. Doesn’t matter whether they slow things down on the very mellow “Motif” or add a little urgency like in closer “Detour Ahead”… it’s nice to listen to, just not entirely memorable. Especially not when you’re talking about the largely boring “Les Pantalons Heavy Metal’ which sounds like some Air reject.
Score: 6.5 out of 10
