We Ride is a Spanish outfit that started going at it in 2009. Barely a year later they’re already unleashing their debut full-length… you can’t exactly say that they’re sitting around with their fingers up their ass.
This female-fronted band plays melodic hardcore and while the vocals may take some getting used to, they actually do work nicely. The band keeps things up-tempo most of the time but there’s plenty of tempo changes and breakdowns to keep things interesting. Think All For Nothing, Bitter Verses, Reaching Hand and you’ll get the gist of it.
While I won’t be calling it the hardcore release of the year, “Directions” is definitely worth listening to and I wouldn’t mind seeing these guys (and girl) tear it up live. I’m just not too sure about the hip hop song they used to round out the album… I would’ve been just fine without that one.
